Wisconsin’s Mutual Assured Destruction

October 21, 2011 Leave a comment

Starting Nov. 1, the citizens of Wisconsin will see each other in a profoundly different light. On that day the Wisconsin concealed carry law takes effect. Our state will now have one of the most liberal laws of its kind in the nation.

Our legislators and our governor have told us that this law will increase our security by allowing us to carry guns almost anywhere. After our applications have been cleared and we take our gun courses, we will be able to carry our weapons feeling secure in knowing that we can walk down the street and have at our fingertips the ability to kill whoever we want. So, apparently, a highly armed citizenry walking the streets means increased safety.

I’m sorry, but I just can’t feel I have increased security and have increased trust in my neighbors knowing that from now on any interaction with a fellow Wisconsinite has the increased potential of being my last.
